I traveled to Brooklyn to watch the girls' regional volleyball games. I used to play volleyball a long time ago, and still enjoy watching the sport in the area especially when the teams are as competitive as I saw last night.

When the Tecumseh vs. Haslett game began Tecumseh had a huge student section which I thought was so amazing. How great to see that many kids from their school supporting them. But, as the game went on the crowd from Tecumseh grew more and more out of control. From a stance as an educator I cannot believe that the students were allowed to represent their school in this manner. I was appalled and disgusted by their lack of respect for sportsmanship. It is a wonderful thing to see so many members from a community supporting and cheering FOR their team. But their actions, words, screams, and chants against the other team were humiliating for their community. They should be embarrassed and administrators should work on enforcing a policy of sportsmanship among their students. So disappointing.
